INSTITUTE FOR NONPROFIT PRACTICE & NEW SECTOR ALLIANCE ANNOUNCE PROGRAM TRANSFER

Institute for Nonprofit Practice to Acquire Two New Sector Alliance Programs

October 26, 2021, Boston – The Institute for Nonprofit Practice (INP), an organization which works to transform the social impact sector to be more effective, equitable, diverse, and connected, and New Sector Alliance (NSA), which works to accelerate social change by strengthening organizations and developing leaders, announced today that two NSA programs, the RISE and Summer Fellowships, have formally transitioned from NSA to move under the management and ownership of INP. NSA will continue to operate as a separate 501(c)(3) and build out its Designing Your Success Fellowship and other future-focused programming, under the leadership of NSA Founder & Executive Chair, Carly Janson. 

For 15 and 20 years, respectively, INP and NSA have offered a range of programming that equips promising social impact leaders with the skills, tools, resources, and networks they need to advance in their careers and be forces for change in their organizations and communities. 

As COVID-19 and the nation’s racial reckoning took a devastating toll on communities and the nonprofits that served them, INP and NSA began to explore ways to work together to deepen and expand their impact and catalyze support for leaders and their organizations. With the shared belief that collaboration and coalition building are critical to scaling solutions, INP and NSA, launched a process to explore a more substantive alliance.  

After an extensive due diligence process led by merger and acquisition consultants from La Piana Consulting and supported by Sea Change Capital, both organizations’ Boards of Directors unanimously approved the decision to transition management of the RISE and Summer Fellowship programs from NSA to INP.

These programs are a natural extension of what we offer at INP, allowing us to support leaders across their entire career trajectory, from their first job all the way through leadership at the executive level.”

The addition of the RISE and Summer Fellowship programs to INP’s existing portfolio will extend the pipeline of leaders served by INP, adding individuals who are just beginning their professional journeys, and expands the organization’s geographic reach, adding sites in Chicago and Minneapolis to INP’s five existing sites across Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.
