This Website is not directed at children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not provide any personal information on this Website.
This Privacy Policy outlines the type of information that Institute for Nonprofit Practice (the “Institute”) collects, how it is used, and with whom it is shared. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not provide any information to the Institute.
We may modify this Policy at any time. If we do, we will post a notice on this Website.
1. Personal Information Collected
You do not have to provide personal information to use our Website. However, particular programs, courses or services provided or applied for through the Website require that you furnish personal information. We collect such personal information only when you provide it to us, for example, in applying for or registering for our programs, courses or services (“Offerings”); donating to us; making inquiries, whether by phone or through our Website; updating information in your account; for our alumni listing; and when taking part in promotional opportunities or registering for general information on our Offerings. From time to time, we may also provide you the opportunity to voluntarily participate in surveys. You may be asked to provide your contact information (such as your name, postal address, telephone numbers and/or email address), financial information (such as credit card numbers), and demographic information (such as your Zip code, age, gender identity, ethnicity, and work background) in connection with these activities.
2. How Information is Used
Contact information is used to respond to your inquiries; to notify you in connection with the Offerings you’ve selected; register you for Offerings; include you in our student, participant, and alumni lists; or contact you with regard to your inquiries from our Website. You also may receive periodic mailings from us (including via email) with information on Offerings or updates to our Website. You may opt out of having your contact information included as part of our mailing list at any time, however, some information relating to your application or participation in our Offerings cannot be rejected. To opt-out of receiving our promotional materials, you may use the “unsubscribe” function within our email to you or contact us at info@nonprofitpractice.org.
We use IP addresses to calculate Website usage levels. Whenever you are on the Internet, a number (an IP address) is automatically assigned to your computer. This number is identified and logged automatically whenever you visit our Website. Collecting IP addresses is standard practice on the Internet, and is done automatically by many Websites.
If you are required to provide financial information (such as a credit card number) through our Website, that information is not collected by us but is provided directly to a third-party service provider in order to verify and process your credit card.
The personal information that the Institute collects from you when you make a donation may include: your name, address, e-mail, phone number and credit card information, when you provide it. The information is used to provide you a receipt for your gift and to bill your credit card when applicable. We use commercially reasonable efforts to maintain the integrity of all information collected.
When you complete any of our Offerings, we may enable you to join an alumni network. This will require you to share some contact information, including your name and email address and may include your phone number and other information that will be voluntary for you to provide. If you register for an alumni network, you may be required to share with other alumni in a directory your name and email address, as well as certain information relating to your participation in our Offerings.
The Institute may send you updates, newsletters and promotional e-mails regarding the Institute and its Offerings. To stop receiving these promotional emails, send an e-mail to us at info@nonprofitpractice.org.
We do not currently display advertisements on our site. However, should we at some point decide to allow advertising on our Website, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect that change. The Institute reserves the right to track users’ traffic patterns throughout their online session, including which pages, information and advertisements a user views while using the Website.
3. How Information is Shared
We do not sell, trade, or license your personal information to others without your consent.
The information collected by or for the Institute may be shared with our third party service providers such as hosting companies and with faculty for our Offerings. We may provide information to an outside company for the purpose of analysis to help us improve our Website, Offerings selection, and to notify you of Offerings and information that may be of interest to you. Our service providers may not share any personal information with others, or use it for any other purpose than to help the Institute.
We may also disclose personal information if we believe that we are required to do so (i) by law, (ii) to comply with legal process or governmental requests, (iii) to enforce our Terms of Use or (iv) to protect the rights, property, or safety of employees of the Institute, our students and participants, or the public.
4. Updating or Correcting Your Information
We encourage you to check and promptly update your information if it changes. You may ask to have the information on your account deleted or removed; however, because we keep track of participation in our Offerings, you cannot delete information associated with such participation. Also, as a security measure we “back up” the data stored on our systems, and such prior information cannot be completely removed from our databases. As a result, you should not expect that all of your personal information will be completely removed from our backed-up databases.
5. Security
In order to most efficiently serve you, credit card transactions and order fulfillment are handled by established third party banking, processing agents and distribution institutions. They receive the information needed to verify, authorize and process your credit card or other payment information. We use appropriate security measures for the data that we collect and retain.
6. “Cookies”
When you use our Website we store cookies on your computer in order to facilitate your use of our Website. A cookie is a small text file, which a Website stores on your computer’s hard drive (if your Web browser permits) that can later be retrieved to identify you to the Institute and customize your experience. The cookies make your use of the Website easier, make the site run more smoothly and help us to maintain a secure site.
7. Third Party Sites
Our Website may contain links to sites provided by third parties. The Institute does not control these sites and this Policy does not apply to your use of such sites. You should review the privacy policy of each site you visit.
